Frightened girl on her own, confused by what she heard the angel say
Could it be, after so long, that Messiah would come
And He’d come as a babe

Frightened boy, sleepless night, wondering how this could be
She with child, not yet His wife, no way to hide
Everyone would see

They trusted God and obeyed
Believing that this baby would save

This was the way, this was His plan
Though it was hard to understand
God of creation, here in a manger
A stable would hold the great I Am
This was His plan

Such surprise, the way He came; everyone was looking for a king
But the Father moves in His own way and He chose a manger
To change everything

The baby born on that dark night
Came to give us new life

Nothing would be the same
Emmanuel was His name
